About a week has passed since my birthday, and this year it's been a happy one. So I thought I'd just write about it here and reminisce and be happy :D
I've had the fortune of having 4 birthday cakes this year. For those high-profile and popular people this may not seem like very much. But considering the fact that already not many people know when my birthday is and that I don't have THAT many friends even though I have a lot of friends, 4 is quite a lot already. The first one was really very early, sometime around early March. It wasn't exactly for me anyway, but my class was celebrating for March babies - me and Ping Ting. That came as a shock, cos the people I'm close to in class aren't the kind that will buy cakes and celebrate birthdays, and the people who will, I thought, probably wouldn't have remembered or even known in the first place. Well I was thankful for that, and to think I actually stupidly sang along the second time they sang the birthday song wondering in my head why they were singing it a second time, when it was actually for me. Lol that was stupid. But the weird thing is, they celebrated my birthday for me so early ahead, but then on my birthday half of them forgot or didn't even know it was my birthday o.O
The second celebration was with my family, the weekend before. Because my brother had booked out of camp early cos he was sick, he was at home (well anyway he was meant to book out that weekend anyway), so my dad bought a cake and we celebrated. Well today's my brother's birthday and he's at home cos it's Good Friday(what coincidence!). So happy birthday kor! This isn't really worth mentioning. Even though other people's parents give them the best celebrations every year while my parents don't even get my a decent present. T_T And brother gets a nice cake while I get some crappy cake from some random cake shop. WTH. And thanks or no thanks to my lazy brother we don't even get to go out for dinner. SELFISH FREAK.The third celebration was with squadmates after cross country >stuff (the whispering lol). I felt completely stupid that I didn't realise at all, but I also felt damn happy that day. Then we ended up at Shao's house playing mahjong and cards and sleeping and mugging for bio test the next day (yeah and I thought finally for once my birthday would be free from tests).
On my birthday actually nothing much happened, and things didn't really go the way I had wanted it to go. But it was still quite a happy day^^ I was mugging bio on the bus and Jiang Yin's bio tutor was standing in front of me looking at me mug bio, lol... Then when I got to school I went to class bench to continue mugging bio. But then cos it was too noisy and I was too distracted I gave up mugging for bio. Then Shao and Wai Tiem came over with my birthday card. It was quite funny getting the card, cos I think they wrote it like 2 weeks before, and I saw it but pretended that I didn't see anything cos I didn't want to spoil it for them. They were sitting in the Central Plaza before morning assembly and I was doing Chem prac at my class bench (that morning something super incredible happened too), so after that I went to look for Gengyu to return her her Chem prac before going back to collect Chem prac from the class. Then I saw them at the Central Plaza, like all of them, but they didn't see me walking over, so went I called Gengyu all of them freaked out and hid the card away, but it was too late. Haha I noticed it but I pretended to be preoccupied with other stuff so I didn't see it. Maybe they already knew that I saw it. Maybe they didn't. I don't know... Hahaha but that was quite funny. So basically other than people in my class, everyone knew it was my birthday, so everywhere I went people were like HAPPY BIRTHDAY! OBS wanted to embarrass me, or more like his friend and himself, so he grabbed his friend Kenji, who's Zhi-yi's campaign group mate and who happened to be in the vicinity, to come over and shout happy birthday in my face. I refused to admit it, so I told him he was embarrassing himself and for his own good, I walked away and told him not to do it, but actually it would have been very embarrassing for me too... Haha but I didn't want him to have his way... :P Laura gave me this really cute hairband with Pooh and Tigger on it. It's so cute! I saw Laura in the Central Plaza wearing that thing on her head, and cos from far I couldn't see what it was, I thought she was just being funny again. After she stuck Hello Kitty in her hair the previous time, really there's no telling what she's gonna do again. Then she came over and made me wear it, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CENTRAL PLAZA. Lol no doubt it was cute, but that kind of thing is the kind of thing that you would buy and wear in Disneyland once, and then throw it aside after that and never touch it again. But don't worry dear, I'm gonna put it somewhere nice so I can see it everyday! I got my birthday card from Andy, and that really was shocking. Firstly, I didn't even think Andy was going to keep to his promise and draw me a card for my birthday, since it was just some silly bet, and secondly, ANDY REALLY CAN DRAW! Although I don't know what that animal is supposed to be, and even he doesn't know cos he copied it off the net, and the card was quite empty on the inside cos it's his first time drawing a card (I'm honoured!) and he didn't know what to write or include, but the card was cute! Even Sim and Marcus say so! YOU'RE THE MAN ANDY! :D After staying in school till six for some reason, I went for dinner with my parents at Jurong Point before going for my last Korean lesson after missing two lessons straight. I decided not to sign up for the next level cos I really don't have the time anymore. School's getting crazy now, CCA, Op Smile and of course schoolwork. I got home and checked my FB, and omg all the birthday wishes were flooding my wall. I felt so happy reading all of those things, and then I decided I was going to reply every single one of them personally instead of posting a general message. Took me about half an hour I think, but it was time well-spent (:
On Saturday I went to church, and I must admit, I was half-expecting them to celebrate my birthday for me already, since they know about it and it's like a ZOE tradition to celebrate birthdays. Just that I didn't know when it was and I was thinking maybe there would be the possibility that they had forgotten about it or were just simply not going to celebrate it for me. Well that day was happy enough, cos I went to Fun-O-Rama (thanks to Pris' free coupons) and had a lot of fun playing games (and winning) and meeting all my primary school friends there (: Scarlet asked me to go to the toilet with her to change, but then told me nvm. So I was wondering how they were (if they were going to) get the cake in without me knowing. Besides we didn't have the room so we were sitting outside with the rest. Then Scarlet came in after changing and shouted HAPPY BIRTHDAY and Rachel brought the cake in. It really was quite a surprise (: And the cake was nice, although cos the cake was quite small and there were many people, so I got quite a small piece. And that day we were writing messages to each other, so every message that I got said happy birthday.
It really feels nice to have so many people remembering and celebrating your birthday for you. For me I don't need that many people or anything, I just want to celebrate with my close friends and be happy. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to celebrate with my OG cos everyone's so busy and it's so hard to put together a gathering, especially if it's within such short notice. They're a bunch of crazy people and being with them is really fun, so I would have loved to just gather with them and play pool or eat or even just talk cock. But there'll always be next year!
