It's sabbatical week now(ok right, it started last friday, but yeah...). i got into tchoukball and learning humanities through movies.
tchoukball's kinda fun, but only when we're playing with each other, i mean the non-sports people and the non-sports people, cos when we play with the sports people, you can even forget about touching the ball. this makes me kinda pissed. i mean, so what if you're good in sports, can't you at least give some kind of handicap or stop ostracizing the non-sports people who play in your team when you need people? i'm so sick of playing with them now i don't even feel anything about winning or losing or even scoring a point or giving a point. seriously, the situation has become such that i don't even give a damn about playing properly since you can't even show your full potential in playing tchoukball when you don't even get much chance to even touch the damn ball. and the referee is damn unfair and not impartial. i always get this feeling that she's biased towards the non-sports people, and kinda always gets pissed that we can't play tchoukball properly. i mean, what do you expect from us? how long have we been playing tchoukball, like 7 1/2 hours? how long has she been playing tchoukball? anyway, back to the point about her being unfair. as a referee of a ball game, you're supposed to follow the ball wherever it goes, even if it means running all around the court, aren't you? she stands at one side of the court and pretends like she can see everything and overlooks all the stepping and landing of ball in the forbidden zones, hitting of the frames and obstruction offences committed by the other team, and see every little thing that we do wrongly. she even had the cheek to thank me for telling her that the ball had landed in the forbidden zone and said i was honest. maybe it's just that she should be much mroe observant and keep her eyes peeled for offences committed, instead of waiting for honest people to tell her.
enough about tchoukball, it's not a very nice sabbatical considering it was my 4th choice and half the time we're just stoning and chatting among ourselves. i even had time to finish my AMES, which i am very thankful for considering the fact that AMES was due today and if i hadn't finished it in school i would have been dead meat cos i didn't have time yesterday afternoon to do it and was super tired in the night i fell asleep at around 9+, which is highly unusual. as for why i was not free yesterday afternoon, blame it on ICA and my stupid passport. can you imagine, i spent 3 hours sitting at ICA staring at that stupid board with all the queue numbers, seeing it malfunction several times, falling asleep, trying to watch the news without any sound and finally deciding to listen to music, just for me to go up to the counter, look at the person's equally black face, put my thumb on that stupid machine and finally seeing that passport of mine, all of which spending less than 2 minutes. seriously, SPENDING 3 HOURS WAITING JUST TO GO TO THE COUNTER FOR LESS THAN 2 MINUTES TO COLLECT THE DAMN PASSPORT?!? why can't they for goodness sake just send the damn thing by mail? and the passport's only valid for 5 years, which means this vicious cycle will continue after 5 years. HOW NICE. anyway i saw gurmit singh there too. together with few hundred other people queuing to get the damn thing. i really regret going on a weekday afternoon, and my advice to you all who are going to make your ic or collect your passport, DO NOT EVER GO TO ICA ON A WEEKDAY AFTERNOON, YOU'LL JUST WASTE PRECIOUS TIME IN YOUR LIFE DOING CRAP STUFF, OR RATHER NOT DOING ANYTHING AT ALL. so much so for fast and efficient service man... BS.
my second sabbatical is learning humanities through movies. so far we've watch like 2 and a half movies, Remember The Titans, American History X and a bit of Crash. they're quite nice except for some disturbing scenes in the last 2 movies and loads of the f word. the first time i heard so many f words in a movie was when we were watching The Wind That Shakes The Barley. slowly getting used to it, although i seriously do not encourage the use of that word and i will definitely not use it. It's fun to be able to watch movies everyday, except that yesterday i almost fell asleep halfway through ms van dijk's ppt presentation, maybe cos it was too wordy. we're gonna continue with Crash tomorrow and i think we're gonna watch Hotel Rwanda as well. so looking forward to it...
oh, and another thing, I'M GOING TO HONG KONG! although only for 6 days, but still better than nothing, and i heard the temp in hongkong's about 20+ degrees, so it's nice that i can escape from the heat in singapore. but i still have sj camp when i come back, bleh. and loads of homework too. this time i'm going with daddy, mummy, sam yee and popo. kor won't be going cos he'll be in new zealand and he wouldn't want to go to hongkong too since it's pretty much just shopping there. the reason why we're going overseas is partly cos kor's going to new zealand, so we can go to hongkong while he's away and come back before he returns so we can fetch him. i thought we were going to stay till kor's back in singapore, then our flight will be earlier than his so we can meet him at the airport, but daddy says he'll have to take more leave like that, so yeah. uncle ong's not going cos he can't get leave, jasmine jiejie's in europe, i think charlene jiejie and gabriel have their own stuff on as well. i'm really looking forward to the hongkong trip cos i haven't been there before and i wanna go shopping! i should start saving for the expenses there already. if you guys want me to help you buy anything just tell me and i'll try to find it for you! (:
heard that there's gonna be a fundraising show in singapore this sunday for the sichuan victims. it's a good thing, we have another avenue that we can donate money through, and it's much more convenient as compared to sending in cheques. i think they should do something like what was done in taiwan, where all the artistes and even the president and his wife sat down and picked up phone calls from donors. i think that would probably serve to get more people to donate, i mean the thought of hearing your favourite artistes' voices over the phone. even though there might be people who donate not because they really want to, but i think the most important thing now is to collect as much money as possible. just yesterday some dj was talking about how they should hold a fundraising activity in singapore just like how other countries are also pitching in to help, maybe they heard him, maybe his worries were unfounded, we will never know but it's good to know that we can help as a country and as individuals through our donations. the people in sichuan now not only need psychological support and help, but also financially, and if we can't help them in any other way, the least we can do is donate. every little amount counts, so yeah, EVERYONE DONATE!
one last thing, i know it's random but yeah, 林宥嘉's new song 神秘嘉賓 is nice! now i can't wait for his new album to be out! i'll post the mv some time soon!
